ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS PART TWO

PART TWO OF HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

Following on from all your pre-work last week, this week we’re going through the motions of execution, and giving you some topics and tips to make sure you complete all your tasks and reach your goals!

START

So simple, but the key to achieving your goals is it start. Taking that initial step (even if you’re using our framework and methods correctly so it’s a small achievable step) can feel incredibly daunting. It can also feel incredibly unimportant. Who cares if you don’t work on your goal, no one’s checking in. You’re never going to achieve it anyway so why waste time when you can be doing something better. All these thoughts breed procrastination (which is an emotional, not time management problem) and you fail to start working towards your goal.

The key to achievement is literally starting. Start now, start before you’re ready, start the second you think of it because once you start you’re on the right track to keep going and reach your goals.

KEEP HEALTHY

When you aren’t at your best you can’t work your best. Achieving goals is often tied up in your mindset and approach as opposed to your actual talent or skill. A way you can boost your chances of achieving your goals is to make sure you’re keeping yourself healthy. This is why we started Good Mornings, your morning is your foundation for your day and everything else you’re working on. It all starts with how you start your day and it is so important for achieving goals. We use our morning routine to make sure we’re moving, getting enough sleep, looking after our bodies and minds, and being as healthy as we can be to enable us to achieve our goals. Our morning routines also make time for rest. Rest and self-care is so important with achieving goals, it’s not about always working, it’s about maximising your ability to achieve by setting the right foundations and looking after yourself.

MAKE YOUR GOALS VISIBLE

Don’t just write down your goals and put them in a drawer, keep them front and centre! Make them completely visible in your life. I use notion daily, I use it as my morning routine and I set aside time every day to use my templates so every day I see my goals.

By keeping your goals front of mind and looking at them (or seeing them) daily, they’ll become such a part of your day that you’re more likely to achieve them.,

WORK ON YOUR MINDSET

Have you ever been someone’s hype person? You’re probably that to your friends all the time. You see them going for something and you’re encouraging and exciting. You need to be your biggest cheerleader. Our mindset is so important in achieving our goals because the way we think about challenges, opportunities, or actions completely reframes the situation for good or bad, and our self-talk will either motivate us to achieve or talk us out of what we most want.

To work on our mindset we do daily practices that help put us in the right frame of mind (part of our goal-setting course to help you achieve your stepping stones and goals). We use retrospective language as if we have already achieved what we want to put ourselves in the mindset of happiness or joy we’re working towards

We are kind to ourselves, if we miss a day that’s fine. If we don’t complete a task that’s also fine, if we spend the whole day watching love is blind…well we definitely needed that! You need to support yourself as much as possible and the best way to do that is to understand that every single day is a new day, a restart. It doesn’t matter if yesterday was awful, get into the knowledge that every day is a clean slate, an opportunity to get 1% better, and another day to cherish and give to yourself for what you want.
